We desire to create a positive, safe environment with a close knit “tribal” community of happy, trusted, compassionate, forgiving friends.
Parents – Please review these standards with your children prior to their first Mentor Session of the year, along with the Scholar Agreement, which they will be asked to sign, thus pledging that they agree to abide by these Behavior Standards at all LCS Events and throughout each class day. Thank you for helping to create the best environment for everyone’s success and enjoyment this year.
LCS Code of Conduct
We desire to create a positive, safe environment with a close knit “tribal” community of happy, trusted, compassionate, forgiving friends. Please respect yourself, environment, mentors, and peers in dress, speech and action. Behavior at all times is expected to be morally appropriate, including clean language and modesty. Clean language includes not taking God’s name in vain. Modest dress includes not wearing clothing that reveals too much skin, or with vulgar language or violent or immodest images. Immodest clothing is any clothing that is skin-tight, sheer, or revealing in any other manner. Students and parents should avoid short shorts and short skirts, shirts that do not cover the stomach, and clothing that does not cover the shoulders or is low-cut in the front or the back. Modest behavior includes not commenting inappropriately about bodies, immoral or vulgar subjects, one’s personal sexual orientation, or acting in any way that would cause someone to feel uncomfortable. This includes inappropriate flirtatious behavior.
Students and parents will not engage in games or behavior that damages relationships, creates anxiety, or is harmful to others in any way, whether emotionally, spiritually, or physically. LCS is an uplifting environment for learning, and is not the place for romantic relationships, dating, or public displays of affection. Please respect the physical and emotional boundaries that protect each person’s sense of well-being.
Students will please not have cell phones or any electronic devices out at LCS at any time unless communication with a parent is needed or a specific purpose for class makes it necessary. This includes during lunch and free play time at the end of the day. You may not use your device without permission until you are in your vehicle on the way home.
Please leave your environment better than you found it. Please do not bring pets to school. Please do not bring toy or any type of weapon to school. Students may not leave their area without adult supervision. Please obtain permission from a mentor if you need to leave the area.
Each adult and student will show respect to all other adults and students at all times, whether in or out of class in regards to the things they say and do, with special emphasis on respect to each other’s religious and political views and tolerance of differences, especially during class discussions. As granted in the Constitution of the United States of America, we reserve the right to share our religious and political beliefs openly and freely in all of our discussions. Each may call upon their personal scriptures or creeds in presenting their thoughts. Mentors will present their lectures in a way which encourages open discussion of all views, allowing all class members to feel included and all opinions honored.
Violations of the above standards will be immediately addressed. Parents may be asked to sit in class with their youth, and to work with the mentor to create an agreement between the youth and mentor specific to the targeted behavior, in the spirit of setting personal goals for growth and building trust. Repeated violations will result in student suspension for one week. After the third suspension, further repeated violation will result in expulsion for the remainder of the semester.
For safety reasons, parents and board members may observe any class at any time. Two adults shall be present with all groups of children at all times. If a conflict does arise, our culture is to encourage everyone involved to kindly communication and make the charitable assumption in every situation.
